Tales of Monkey Island Episode 1

Guybrush Threepwood, the scatterbrained and fearless pirate created by Ron Gilbert, makes a comeback in this graphic adventure series that brings back, at least partly, the essence of one of the best video game sagas in history.

The game's graphics aren't spectacular, but they feature the traditional cartoon-like aesthetic of the game, matching the characters and storyline perfectly.

In this first installment, Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of the Screaming Narwal, Guybrush manages to infect the whole pirate population of the Caribbean with a voodoo illness that transforms them into monsters. Naturally, all this happens with the help of the evil LeChuck, who Guybrush never stops fighting.

The game uses the same traditional gameplay and sense of humor that made the saga so popular. You can find the same old absurd situations, and even the romantic story with the charming and beautiful Governor Elaine.

Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of the Screaming Narwal is the first chapter in a new series of wonderful graphic adventures. It's not as amazing as the original trilogy, naturally, but it definitely pays tribute to it.
